Unfazed, he crowded
closer and with his finger pushed a lock of her hair behind her ear.
"Do something just for me, Megan. Can you do something just for me?"
His chocolaty voice melted over her senses, dulling her common
sense.
"What?" Her mouth
parted.
"Kiss me."
And just like that, all
rational thought escaped. Their lips met and Megan felt the
sensation all the way to her toes. Oh, she shouldn't be kissing her
soon-to-be-client. But somehow her mind wouldn't wrap itself around
the idea of stopping.
When his arms encircled
her waist, he pulled her to the front of the stool so that she stood
between his legs. His mouth slanted over hers and she felt his
tongue nudge at the seam of her lips.
She knew she should
resist, but when he became more persistent her own curious desire
took over. With an unvoiced moan she opened and he swept inside,
seemingly eager to explore everywhere at once. She heard a low groan
and didn't know if it came from her or Joe.
Taking his time, he
finally ended the kiss. "Thank you."
"Why are you thanking
me?" She swept her hair back over her shoulder, then swiped at her
bangs.
"For kissing me. You
said it's not part of your regular routine." He kept his arms around
her waist.
"Of course, kissing
isn't part of my routine. Why would it be?" She really liked Joe,
but sometimes he made the weirdest statements.
"I'd think most men
would expect you to kiss them. Most of the women in your line of
business do."
Megan broke out of his
embrace and tilted her head. "My line of business?" As he stepped
toward her, she raised both a questioning eyebrow and her hand.
Reading her body
language correctly, Joe halted his advance. "Prostitution."
