Kendal tugged at the bottom of the constricting bra pushing her breasts practically to her chin. How did women live in these contraptions? Her respect for comfortable lingerie was increasing every hour she spent undercover.

Before grabbing the large blunt handles of the heavy wood door, she threw her head up and got attitude. Thick smoke slithered out as she entered the dingy bar. Two steps inside, she kept her chin cocked at an arrogant angle.

Fighting the need to tug at her bra and the hem of the too tight, extra-short skirt, she searched the tables for Stubb and Python. Men of all ages and sizes turned to stare. Just like Stubb to pick the most biker plagued, testosterone-filled establishment to have a business meeting.

“Hey, baby. You looking for some company?” A burly guy with his front teeth missing, waggled his eyebrows.

“Why? You think you know someone I’d be interested in?”

His brow knitted, and he scratched the side of his face. “I was thinking me.”

“You shouldn’t do that.”

Confusion had his forehead creasing even more. “Huh?”

“I wouldn’t recommend you straining yourself by trying to use your brain. It may cause you a seizure or something.”

“Huh?”

You know better, she chastised herself. Something about wearing stilettos, skintight clothes, and make-up a clown could envy, gave her a real case of bitchy. Shaking her head, Kendal waved him off. “Never mind, cowboy. I’m meeting someone, and you aren’t him.”

“I was just asking,” came his somewhat sulky answer as he shuffled back to the bar.

Watching him, she felt more than heard someone approach from her left. Whirling, her hand shot out. A direct hit to Python’s chest.

“Hey!” He rubbed the spot. “What’d you do that for? Haven’t you beat up on me enough lately?”

Unaffected by his fake wounded look, Kendal adjusted the strap of her purse on her shoulder. She chose to ignore the sudden increase in her heart rate. “If I were you, I wouldn’t ever sneak up on me like that.”
